18 Oct 08- Skyline Drive Along Shenandoah National Park
Last Sat on 18 Oct, we went to the Shenandoah National Park and drove along the skyline drive. It was a really long route, i think 100+ miles and we can stop over at any of the lookover points for breathtaking sceneries...Of cuz, Cha and I wasted no time in taking lots and lots of pictures again..haha...The only drawback was that we had to wake up really early so that we can complete at least half of the skyline drive. As there were not many eatery choices over there, we packed our own lunch... Got pringles, cookies, brownies, nuts and sausage sandwiches so that we can eat as we drove to enjoy the scenic views...But the weather was freezing lor, and towards the evening part, I almost refused to get out of the car...hehee
Was contemplating to take my bridal shoots here, nice hor...

First time I see so many red trees in my life! Autumn here is really beautiful...

秋天的童话

So touched that pinkies gave me so many suggestions so that I wun be so sian... Haiz, just in very bad mood that day, cuz tat PORKY made me very mad that day, then thinking of all the 委屈ness of cooking meals and ironing clothes for him, and being a social hermit made me so moody and lonely at times. Haiz, I broke down for nearly an hr tat nite, stupid PORK. But after tat I felt much better le, and after treating me to a dinner at Boston Mkt the following evening, we were ok again liao, even thou Cha was also pretty mad at me for giving him attitude for 2 whole days.
Sometimes really miss the Fri gatherings w Pinkies, the Sunday outings with my family and datings with Cha on Sats in Spore (cuz can afford to go chill out in spore). Being here means have to take care of my own self, no mother to fuss over me when I'm unwell, no ready-cooked meals every evenings. It's a totally different experience over here. There are trade-offs thou. Here I have no friends, always have to face Cha from day to nite and nite to day. Cannot really connect with my classmates, and Cha's classmates are mostly australians, dun really understand their accents. And their wives all seem to be pretty bz and have their own activities... Me like a hermit crab now, day in day out only tok to cha. So when we have tiffs, really diff for me to find anyone to tok to here, end up in coldwars and I can only sulk all the way to show my displeasure.
However at the other extreme end, I can always look forward to Sats over here becuz we can go explore different places. Like last Sat we went to Williamsburg in Virginia, a 3-hr drive away. Quite nice, cuz it's like a mini-town which was a replica of a colonial town a century ago. All the ppl there were dressed in colonial style and all the shops had themes which were landmarks of that time, like blacksmith, wheelspun fabric and those victorial style dresses in the seamstress shops. Even their kitchens were very much like what I've visualised in Julie Garwood's romance novels. The medicine and drugs they had used at that time and how they made their leather shoes and belts were also fascinating. And very strangely, the "employees" over there were all very immersed in their role-playings of roles which existed 100 yrs ago. A bit eerie...
Was planning to go to Shenandoah national park in Virginia this sat. Haiz.. only Sats are what I'm looking forward to now. The rest of the days are just studying, studying and studying. And Cha will just do his own stuff most of the time , and I also hav to rush assignments every other day, so sian... It's either I feel very sian and desolate most of the time, or I get to enjoy a lot on one single day. No other activity and no other friend..
This Thur I will be doing a follow-up consultation at the uni's health center, a bit nervous... The notion of doing an ultrasound again soon makes me sick to the stomach, I dun like it leh.

Barely 2 months. I feel so alone here, no one to tok to, no gathering. Tis is the period when i'm most vulnerable, tat's y i'm taken for granted sometimes. Tis wasn't the case in the past. Now that I have nothing, sometimes i really feel like going home.

Now Cha and I both bz like birds cuz MID-TERM IS COMING!!! Sianz la...the only thing I dun like abt studying is exams and writing long papers, although I like going for classes..haha..but not too bad..all my exams are open books. Cha more jialat..everynite 2-3 am then sleep, and wake up earlier than me..bo bian, I need at least 9 hours of beauty sleep daily, or else I will be a zombie for the whole day liaoz..Me also have to do weekly assignments, which leave me very little time to enjoy tai tai life... I sometimes do hmwk until 12 midnite leh...sometimes cannot take it so will alternate with watching HK drama "Moonlight Resonance". So damn nice, until I want to rush the whole series all at one shot..Now I only looking forward to every Sat where Cha and I will go out to walk walk and take a breather. Even our Sundays are devoted to homework! Pengz..dun recall I'm so hardworking during my uni days last time...

Still have an hour more before it marks the end of our third anniversary... Time fliessss! The celebration was really special for this year, cuz we celebrated it in Merryland! YAAY! We celebrated early on last Sat..Chaa brought me to Ocean City, also in Maryland, but had to drive around 3 hrs to reach, it's a nice place, it's a boardwalk beach with a strip of shops and entertainments along the coast, similar to Santa Monica which I've been to last year. Wah...the coast is really long, we took almost 5 hours leisure walk, also cannot finish the entire coast..tiring leh.. Weather was not that good, it drizzled one third of the time, but lucky not like those torrentious type in Spore. We settled our dinner at Harrison's Harbor Watch Seafood restaurant, the food there was good, a bit costly, but their sides and rolls were free-flow, so quite filling lar. Their crab cake was really good, Chaa seems to luv it a lot =) We also tried the funnel cake at one of the coastside cafe, it was delicious! It claimed that it was voted the best funnel cake in Ocean City lar, but dunno real or not, the cakes from the other cafes looked as nice lor...Not to forget we spent quite a bit on arcade games...Haa, long time never been to arcade liao, but we were there to hide from the rain lar, in the end we managed to exchange for an exquisite hanger with our combined coupons..wahahah, heng ah!
Ocean City, The BoardWalk

On Cha's request: The Famous Thrasher's Fries which we have to queue quite a while to get them...

The Number 1 Funnel Cake- Believe it or not
Tucking into my dinner!

Today we celebrated the actual day by having a romantic dinner in a "fine dine" setting. Haa.. we prepared the dinner ourselves, got soup, maincourse and dessert. Of cuz not to mention got wine lar...too bad no candlelights de...We had roasted pork loin chops for mains. But it was roasted in oven for too long liao lar (cuz we both dun have much experience with ovens), the pork loin chops macham char siew lidat...so damn tough, then we only have butter knife, no meat knife, so can imagine our pain when we try to cut the very tough meat with a butter knife! haha...Dinner was really great, with soft lightings and love songs playing in the background. We even danced ard a bit when my ROM march-in song was played...was quite a cozy celebration and we can also save a lot of money by having "fine-dine" dinner at home lor...
Chaa also had a surprise for me this evening, I already din expect anything from him on this anniversary, cuz it was hard on him to get something while I'm always around, but he got me a "Perfect Dozen" online! It was delivered to our home while we were preparing our food. When the bell rang, I tot it was some postal service or wad so I din wan to open the door even Cha asked me to.. So I was really surprised to see him holding the "Perfect Dozen" in the doorway.. So sweet of him =) Will remember this anniversary in years to come de, our first one overseas...but dunno whether we shd celebrate our marriage anniversary or the day we were first together better leh... The ROM date was given to us by a temple fortune teller, but marriage is our first life milestone together. Today's anniversary is also special as I want us to always remember the day when we first started our journey together..dilemma lar..haha maybe shd celebrate both hor..then got 3 presents every yr, including my bday..heehee
Anyway, since today it's such a special day for Chaa and me, we've just sent in our appplication to ballot for the flat liao, hope we can get it this time round!
The Perfect Dozen=D
