I was victimised by the ridiculous charges of the so called professional service here AGAIN...well...not even sure if those opticians in the spectacle shops can be considered "professional". As my contact lens are running out, and I know my eye power and base curve, so thinking of getting them online, and to my delight, the lens are really cheaper than in Spore. But to my shock, all purchase of contact lens have to be done on prescriptions by federal regulation, be it online or when you are buying from spectacle outlets, EVEN THOUGH I've been a long time wearer of the same contact lens. But fair enough, cuz maybe they din wan to be responsible if anything goes wrong...so I decided to go for an "eye exam" to see whether my eyesight got deteriorate, but largely it's to obtain a prescription for my lenses...So I called and checked the price, cost $40! Siao! But since I have to get the lenses, so die die must go for eye exam, so bo bian made an appointment with My Eye Dr. today.

To my utter horror, the total eye examination fee, which only just checked the status of my shortsight, COST ME A JAW DROPPING USD 150!!!! My first thought is Wah lau!! Why so expensive, I did all these eye checks for FREE in spore!! Very angry that they did not specify in advance that they will be including the contact lens specialized fitting professional fee, which is USD110! What's so big deal abt consultation on contact lens purchase? I just want my old lenses, at the exact eye power and brand!! In the end, the results of the eye exam is identical to the prescription result from my former optician in Spore. No changes was made at all to the lenses which I'm wearing now lor, so what's the justification of charging me $150???

Back in Spore, I never have to pay for any professional fee for optician! Just pay for the glasses and lenses... But here, when the cost of my four month supply of lenses is included, it costs me USD 319 lor! Nearly fainted!

I really don't know what's so great abt these opticians, and why they deserve such high fees, when the service sucks as I have to wait for an hour for my turn, and I have to waste almost 3 hours at the specs shop to get all these business done...And I have to stress again, I never have to wait more than 5 min in any spec shop I've been to in Spore lo! It is at times like this, I really hope to be home...I really hate how US charge ridiculous rates for their services which don't deserve so much of our hard-earned money! RIDICULOUS that I have to pay USD 150 just to check whether the degree of my myopia is still the same. And the federal regulation to obtain a prescription to buy contact lenses is almost as ridiculous when it is NOT affordable to the general public at all. I strongly condemn their optician services here...This WILL be my last time doing an eye exam in the US, IT'S EXORBITANT, might as well go and rob lar!

Was surfing the chinese omy.news website for Singapore news when I saw the following headline:

At first this looks like any other normal molest case to me until I notice that this guy was from the same batch as me studying psychology in NUS... Then I realised his name looks familiar... THEN I realise who he was.

This guy was one of the other 2 friends who did internship with me at the Singapore Prisons Svc at the end of my third year!!! And we three became quite gd frens after that, often going out for lunch together and chit chatting while going home together... And in my honours yr, I also often sit together with him in class when taking my 5000 level statistic class, as I thought he was very easy to get along with and very helpful whenever I approached him for some difficult statistic questions. My impression of him was that he was very intelligent, kind, helpful and nerdy kind of guy. Never thought that he would be a sexual offender!! My god!!!

The worst part was, he actually had a previous record of molesting two girls back in 2001, and he did it again in 2006! Which was the year we took stats class together!!! But at that time was Sept so I graduated liao la...Was really shocked to see this news...as he looked so decent and all that, and I never caught him "leering" at girls or anything like that...haiz...really cannot judge a book by its cover de...but anyway, hope that he won't do this again la...he was really wasted as he was really a bright person, with a lot of his own ideas and he seemed so passionate about pursuing a career in psychology....haiz...a pity, most likely his prospects will be ruined and he cannot avoid imprisonment liao...

Despite my repeated assurance that Cha looks good in wearing longer curly hair and donning a mushroom head, Cha kept complaining about his hair being too long which made him very uncomfortable when sleeping, thus we both decided to go for a haircut at the Paul Mitchell training school again. But it was the worst, worst decision we had ever made, especially for Cha lor... We were totally unhappy with the haircut we had lor, and still have to pay USD 34 (including $10 tips) for the LOUSY haircut...This kind of price hor, can easily get a reputable salon to cut my hair in Singapore lor...I miss my haircut services in Spore lor...No rebonding here, hair cut here totally cannot make it...Out of three times I cut, I only barely satisfied with the last cut...which VERY remotely looks like Fann Wong's hairstyle, but still barely acceptable...My expectations of hairdressing services really lower a lot since I'm here...totally not confident of their hair styling skills at all...Their sense of beauty is well...hopeless...

The haircut I had today was the worst lor...Not only the base of my hair is cut totally blunt again, my left and right side hair length not equal one!!! The difference is almost by 1 cm lor!!!! How can she cut my hair slanted from left to right one, should flush straight at the back right...I think the hairdresser assigned to me first time cut hair one leh...so inexperienced, dun even know how to do thinning of hair, and hor...ang mors here don't seem to know what is layering...they don't do layering one leh!! Just one clean straight horizontal cut...Look like kuku like that...then the hair thick and rectangular like broomstick lor...cham...lucky Cha helped me trimmed back a bit...then not that obvious anymore...anyway, the way she cut macham no effect one...just a few snippets and that's it...cuz after I see Cha's haircut, I scareded, so I just let it be la..cuz dun't want to be like him...

Haiz...My pitiful Cha...He really had a very BAD hairday...He was so upset with his new haircut that he couldn't smile the whole day and declared himself in deep depression for another 2 months liao...And to be honest, after I went to wash my hair and return to my seat, I was really shocked to see wat has happened to his hair..but it was already too late for any repair liao...His hairdresser used the shaver to shave his entire head instead of shaving just the side of his head lor!!! Devastating! Cha was really sad now..hope his hair grow really fast and we will be able to catch the fall season for our photoshoot...

**Hee... Cha~ Just joking only kk ^o^**

It's the beginning of the new school term!!! My first fall class starts tomorrow, going to bury my head in the books again, although this is what I have been doing the past few days, hoping that I could be ahead of class schedule...Summer holiday has ended so fast, weather has begun to turn cool, the leaves are also starting to turn yellow and the days are now shorter and shorter...Gone are the days where nightfall starts at 9 plus in the evening..haizz...

But I really love the autumn season here when all the leaves are reddish yellow and starting to fall, so nice! It reminds me of the same time last year, when I was still so confused and fearful of the unknown when I would be in US. Turns out that I have enjoyed my stay here more that I've thought. Next year this time, I should be at home and reunited with my family and friends, wahaha...meanwhile I will be making the most out of my remaining time in Merryland!

Nothing much happened these few weeks, has been grocery shopping, made a new jam, do my homework, had a bbq organised by the community...quite nice, but very cold downstairs...brrhhh..

Hope my first week of class will be smooth smooth~
