This year's CNY for me is totally different, think it's the first time I was not in Ipoh with my family. CNY celebration there is always festive from the loud firecrackers, huge gatherings and of cuz, the delicious food my grandma will always prepare for us... Not to mention got tonns of new yr goodies lar! Not like here lar, I totally cannot tell it's chinese new yr lor... Went to the supermarket here and to my great disappointment, no pineapple tarts, no rou gan, no new yr cookies... haizz.. Manage to get dried persimmons thou...can only crave cookies from the delicious pics of the CNY celebrations from my frens' facebook pictures....make things more sian, Chu Yi is the first day of my class, and is freezing lor! (Lucky Chu Er class cancelled due to snow storm..hehe)
But...as usual, I cooked a big feast for reunion dinner, got sweet and sour fish, braished duck with sea cucumbers, vege with ABALONE and roast pork..hehe, still got mandarin oranges..not too bad...All in all, delicious lor!=D
Back from my trip!! Have enjoyed myself in the company of Chaa during these 20 days in the west of United States. Their national parks are stunning, landscapes seem to be straight out of Geography textbooks, it's a once in a lifetime experience. Not to mention the cities in the west are much warmer than in Merryland now, it's damn freezing over here lor...brrrrhh....Among the various places (Rocky Mountains, Arches, Canyonland, Las Vegas, Death Valley, San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Zion and Bryce) I've visited during this trip, I particular find Arches, Death Valley, San Fran and Bryce interesting. I think they are must-go places if one were in the west side of United States. The rock and mountain formations in these parks are really spectacular. San Fran is a city built on rolling hills, driving there will be a huge challenge lor! I love Fisherman's Wharf there, cuz we celebrated Chaa's 29th bday in Neptune Palace Seafood restaurant at Pier 39 over there. View there is nice and food is good, I chose and made the reservation one leh, thou Chaa was the one who foot the bill, hehe =p
Had a memorable trip which Chaaa has once again made it possible for us thru his meticulous planning and tough driving =D We travelled 4000+ miles in total!!! Amazing feat =D (Not to mention he paid all the expenses for the trip again) Thanks Chaaaa!!!! =D
Rocky Mountains
Arches National Park
My favourite: The Delicate Arch (We hiked a long long time to reach this place one leh!)
Just came back from my long trip yesterday and was so surprised to receive a Xmas card from Pinkies!! Haha, although a bit belated, but still very happy to see familiar writings on the card, leaving me good wishes for the year...Card was a little crumpled, and the chopsticks were poking a hole in the envelope, lucky never dropped out leh, very touched that Pinkies still remember me thou I was unable to join for Xmas...Only one more yr left, Pink Army!
Happy 2009!!!! It's a brand New Year, brand new beginning with new wishes and resolutions. 2008 was a year plagued with natural disasters and social unrests...May 2009 be a better year for all of us, blessed with health and happiness. Totally no new year feel at all right now... Chaaa and I now at Moab, Utah, near the Arches National park, which is totally ULU and deserted...haiz...totally forgot abt New Yr countdown when we did the planning...but it was a different experience out in the "wild" bah =D
Happy new year to everyone, my dear family, Chaaa, Pinkies and my friends... hope 2009 will be a better yr for us¬
