Baked a pumpkin pie for Halloween. Had a strong craving for this pie since we returned from New England, so decided to try out this pie based on some internet recipe. The crust turned out not very nice as I do not have a dough roller, so every inch was pressed out by my palm and knuckle...hehe

But very satisfied with the taste, almost similar to the previous ones we had...not sure if Singapore has it...but I don't think pumpkin is a hot favourite in Spore la...so might as well learn how to bake then return to Spore still can get to eat (provided have an oven la).

Halloween today, was as quiet as last year. Cha and I went walk walk ard and played with a very cute prom prom in a pet shop...we get to play with it for as long as we wanted...but after half an hr of playing "snatch toy" with the dog, we also quite tired liao...but the dog really cute, kept on biting my crocs shoes, must be super chewy...and it loved biting my fingers too! Wierd~ That din happen to Cha...In one word, that dog loved to bite me. Sian..in the end, got a lot of red marks all over my hand...but it has been a long time since we can get to interact freely with a dog liao...was really quite fun...

Dinner was at Red Lobster again, yummy dinner with my favourite corn bread roll...Also to celebrate our 49th monthly anniversary...every month so fast passed like that...soon I'd be back in Spore!! Haiz...still in a dilemma on how I shd path out my career, dunno how to reply my HR...But no risk no gain leh~

Daylight saving will occur later at 2am, so from tomorrow onwards, we will be again 13 hours behind Singapore time~

Auroras, sometimes called the northern and southern (polar) lights or aurorae (singular: aurora), are natural light displays in the sky, usually observed at night, particularly in the polar regions. The aurora borealis is also called the northern polar lights, as it is only visible in the sky from the Northern Hemisphere, the chance of visibility increasing with proximity to the North Magnetic Pole, which is currently in the arctic islands of northern Canada. Auroras seen near the magnetic pole may be high overhead, but from further away, they illuminate the northern horizon as a greenish glow or sometimes a faint red, as if the sun were rising from an unusual direction. (Extracted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_(astronomy))

We'll be going to Alaska to see these northern lights aka Aurora Borealis in winter!!! Fairbanks is supposed to be one of the best place in the world to see these celestial displays of colors in the night sky, so we'll be staying at one of a hill top lodge with 2 huge windows facing the north for 3 nites. We can actually see the Aurora Borealis while we are sleeping if it really occurs!! That's so nice~ Hehe, that is IF we can tahan the sub sub zero freezing temperature. I tink the cottage- like lodge will be very cozy with its own kitchenette so that we can cook our own meals in the lodge, then we can save a bit on dinner costs...I think the temperature will be so freezing that I will just stick my butt in the lodge all day lor..heheh

We have to stay in such ulu places at the hill is because these northern lights can only be seen in places far away from the city lights, where the sky is completely dark. This means the long winter nights are the best time. The bad thing is, temperature at Fairbanks is an average of -40 degree celsius at its coldest time. NEGATIVE 40S!!!! Wahhhh...really cannot imagine right now...not even sure if my weak and frail body can tahan such extreme temp...but we really want to see the northern lights though:) and it is such a rare chance we can make this trip to Alaska. So we definitely need to do some physical conditioning before we embark on this physically straining trip... Macham go to north pole and stick our Spore flag lidat!! But I think temp in Fairbanks is even colder than the north pole, cuz Fairbanks is located in interior Alaska, so I really dun know how we are going to adapt to the cold... It's so cold that our bare skin cannot come into contact with any metal surface in that freaking cold temp, cuz will easily get frostbite, wah~ So scary! Will be getting thicker gloves and face mask soon...

Most ppl will think that we are siao to visit Alaska in winter, where it's at its coldest, and not many tourists dare to venture out in such chill. However, the Aurora Borealis make us choose winter over summer in Alaska, although this period is definitely breathtaking and super popular with tourists. But going to Alaska in summer is also super expensive, cuz all lodgings and flights jack up their prices, and it's going to be so packed with ppl, we wun get to enjoy the raw beauty of Alaska. So we finally decided on winter, and I thought it's quite sweet to spend a quiet white xmas together as well...Also considered as an early bday trip for Cha...(althou Cha's the sponsor, hehehe)

The next activity which I'm very looking fwd to is dog sledding lor...macham like the "Eight Below" movie; we will travel the snow covered Denali national park with the dogs!! As the snow is too thick for any car to go thru, the only means of transportation is via dog mushing...really cool! The trainer will train us how to mush dogs then each of us will lead a team of sled dogs to travel around the park!! Wow...really exciting, but again, I doubt my ability to communicate effectively with the dogs, scarly the dogs never listen to me, and throw me over, then sian liao...

We will also spend a few days in Anchorage before moving to Seattle to visit the famous Pike Fish market and celebrate the new year towards 2010!! =D

Last few days were a frantic rush for my group project and mid term. So suay, this group project stuck with a social loafer blackie, so much stuff have to do on my own...and she has not contributed a single word despite deadline coming soon. Sai~ Gave me and the other group mate more work instead of relinquishing our workload by keep asking us this and that, and we spent more time responding to her queries than her contribution, if anything at all... All the answers to her qn, could be found in our previous correspondences, or even the book, and manual itself. She's just plain lazy to flip a single page. Sai...Think Im turning r**ist soon... Dunno if it's just a coincidence or the xiao heis I've worked with are really "airheads" and VERY VERY lazy. I don't understand why Mei Guo is feeding so many lazy ppl~ Careless, lazy and never go an extra mile in their work. Now I know why this ctry is in trillion dollars debt cuz too high wage to pay for such low productivity of ppl. Only know how to talk, but no work done...*exasperated~

My hint hint was heard!!! Wahahaha~~ Actually I only got to know that we were going for a short fall trip to New England on the evening before we depart on Thurs morning. Chaaa had planned for a very impromptu trip, and because of such a short notice, I was in a mad rush to complete all my assignments in a few hours, especially when my presentation for tomorrow's class was not even done yet! My gosh!! In the end, we only slept for three hours before Cha made the 8-hour drive to New England, State of Vermont. Our accommodation was at Killington Pico Lodge, a very nice and cozy place which is very suitable for the budget-minded.

New England had lived up to its name for having the nicest fall foliage in the country. Its autumn landscape was unlike what I've seen last yr. The entire state was surrounded by mountains with amazing shades of red, orange, yellow and green and everywhere you go you can see the autumn leaves falling and covering the ground. Its striking red and orange hues contrasted very well with those evergreen trees and I've never seen such colorful mountains before! Kind of remind me of the colorful skittles candies where there are orange, lemon, lime and cherry flavors hehe...Sad to say, throughout our three-day stay there, only first day had the most sun, second day was basically cloudy and wet, but lucky it was just a slight drizzle, and did not affect our phototaking session! wahahaha...

First day when we arrived, we quickly rushed to take the ski cable to the top of the Killington Mountain to view the aerial scenery of the Green Mountains, which is famous for its beautiful autumn colors. We spent the entire second day driving towards the North and stopping by to take pictures whenever we saw nice views. And hor, it was also amazing to see how the colors of the leaves transformed day by day, even though we only stayed a few days there, but the landscape seemed to turn redder every morning we went out. Too bad there wasn't many turnout points, and it was very difficult to take pictures while we were on the road. As usual, we couldn't help taking many pictures with the fall scenery. Experiencing fall in Vermont was really nice with a soft and romantic touch to it. Had always hoped that I'm able to go New England to see the fall, and Cha made it happen again!=D So happy~

We also went to Ben and Jerry's ice-cream factory as its ice-cream originates from Vermont itself!! But we were too cold to buy any ice-cream there, and we were also shocked to see the huge crowds lining up for their ice-cream making tours. Apparently, New England was famous for its pumpkin and blueberry pies, and it was true! They taste REALLY good~

Came back yesterday night after Cha endured another gruelling drive. Really glad that we were able to make this trip despite our piling homework! Was a good break for us! =D

Posted many of our narcissistic shots here, wahahahaha~
