Had our caricature done at our lobby this afternoon...It was free as the property management invited the artist as a form of sales gimmick at the open house. Although the cartoons dun look 100% identical to us... but I still love it as this is the first time I have my face expressed in cartoon form...heh..it's fun!

Cartoon versus the real persons. 像嗎? =D

This year's dumpling festival was the first time we had our dumplings in Md. Cha said they taste awful, but I tot they were quite good cuz meat fillings they used are mostly lean meat...Cha loves FAT PORK lor...which is totally opposite from my preference for dumpling, hehe..

Dumpling Festival Feast, Roast pork and char siew bought from supermarket, and most ended up in Cha's stomach...

Spent the last few days planning for our summer vacation trips, trying to source for the cheapest and value for money deals for flights, hotels and car rentals. My head is already giddy from comparing hundreds of hotels and flights charges which are mostly exorbitant. It is really difficult to find accommodations which offer free parking in big cities. US hotel charges are still very high despite being in recession. But lucky...I have all the time in the world now...so can slowly source for cheap alternatives. Wahahah...
Summer Trip: Planning to spend 18 days travelling Boston and Canada. Especially looking forward to some of the bed and breakfast stays, where we get to stay in real homes of the locals who have converted some of their rooms for B&B. Breakfast is usually very good, rooms are super cozy, and the hosts are often very warm and hospitable. And it suits couples on honeymoon better than staying in cheap hotels. I really like the feel of staying "in a home away from home". Quebec city in Canada should be very nice too as it is dominated by french culture and tradition European style. Surprisingly, their main language is French! One problem we might have is the road signs which will also be in French, which we know nuts about... Toronto and Montreal will also be some of our destinations as well... We will then end off the trip with the grand highlight: the NIAGARA FALLS!! WEEEEEE!!! Another must-visit site. Here, we will also be staying at a B&B which are owned by two guys...hee, should be super nice!
Birthday Trip: 10 day trip to Hawaii Island and the Maui (an off-site island which is also part of Hawaii). We wanted to much to see the volcano national park in Hawaii island and enjoy the relatively more quiet and pristine beaches at the Maui island. Wah...Super looking fwd to Hawaii now, I've never expected to visit Hawaii in my lifetime before I came to US...have been dreaming of white sandy beaches with clear blue ocean lately, it's a really great way to spend my bday..I'm sure it will be my most unforgettable bday celebration to-date... Wah~ I feel so 幸福 just by looking forward to these two trips... Have never felt so carefree in a long long time...and I know this will all end when I return to resume my boring worklife...so..must cherish the moments now...Although these will pose a huge strain on our savings, but life is short and so we must enjoy while we are still in good health!
Just made OR-NEE again, to satisfy Cha's new bout of craving for it...This time it tastes better without too much shallots...Cannot believe Cha still say it's not sweet enough when I have added 15 teaspoons of the sugar into the small portion of mashed yam...sibei sinful... Both Cha and I must start to work on toning our bodies liaoz...so that we can show off our bods in bikinis and trunks on the Hawaiian beach, then wun be sia suay among the ang mor hunks and babes, hee hee =p

Sian lar..Tio a traffic citation for not wearing a seatbelt..SHIT ALWAYS HAPPENS...Being the safety- conscious me..I cannot believe a traffic police caught me for not wearing a seat belt in one of the rare moments which I forgot to wear my seat belt...Why lucky draw dun have such luck huh??? *Angry* Although I'm not the driver, the traffic citation was recorded on my driving license and lucky no demerit points deducted...It was so embarassing that we have to stop by the road with the cop car siren flashing behind our car... macham kana arrested lidat..and their sirens are damn bright...so..there goes $25 which we could have saved for movie tickets and even lunch for tomorrow...
Just went for a check up again... As expected, another solid lump was found, and I have to go back for a follow- up AGAIN in six months...hmm...was thinking when will this stop...I hate going for check-ups...make me so nervous and queasy in the stomach... This time round it's slightly more uncomfortable, but I guess it feels much betta than a biopsy bah...haiz...

Seeing Cha works so hard for his school assignments, I decided to try a few teochew dishes to reward Cha's cravings for his dialect food...Yam paste and teochew steamed fish!! hehe...considering first attempt they taste not too bad, Cha seems to enjoy the food...and I also thought they are quite well done... Weeeeeee!!! At the end of this US stay, I think I will be able to start up my book of recipe liao ^_^

Yam paste with ginko nuts, albeit too much shallots though...

A close-up, 有模有樣 wor!

Mashed Or-Ni in its raw state...

Too much salted vegetables in the teochew steamed fish liao...but cannot waste the whole packet mah and it tastes quite good! hehe

Got a new haircut recently at the Paul Mitchel training school (which is much much cheaper) on Sat...cannot stand my half-hanging fringe, thus I requested the hairdresser to cut off my neither-here-nor-there fringe at the eyebrow level, with the naive hope of regaining my previous hairstyle with a bit of layering fringe..I even brought one A4 size of Fann Wong poster to show the gal... BUT well...my new haircut came nothing close to it...instead I had this thick slab of bang cut straight across my forehead..and it was so shorrttt, around 1 cm above my eyebrow !!!! Pengz... Lucky next few weeks won't be going anywhere, so I have time to grow the fringe to my desired length..it should look betta by then bah, heez.. Now my fringe is so short that when my hair is dried, my bangs sort of bounced up and look even shorter...which resembles what Cha now affectionately calls me as the "mushroom head"... and Cha seems to like it because the bangs make me look rounder (and supposedly cuter)...

My desired haircut which I brought to the salon as well...
I also requested for more layerings at the bottom, cuz my hair is getting thicker due to wearing off of the rebonding effect. To make things worse, there is no rebonding offered in most salons in US!!! They are still using the relaxer technology...my god..so outdated liao...so no choice I have to opt for more layering hair style to make my hair look thinner... Definitely have to make an appointment to rebond my hair straight after I return to Singapore lor..
Before haircut...

After haircut: The new haircut is nowhere close to the hairstyle I wanted..haiz..it was expected since we can only afford trainees (haircut at ordinary salons are very expensive)..so..I look like a gong kia now...

So bored today, so tried doing makeup with my new hair for fun..hehe

Whipped up this black pepper prawns for last night's dinner...hehe..looks good, smells good and most importantly, taste good!!! Almost as good as those seafood restaurant in Spore (with Cha's testimonial)... 難得 first attempt so well done, must 吹牛a bit lar...
Too bad the prawns here don't sell with heads, Cha loves sucking heads most, but it certainly satisfies part of our cravings for authentic asian seafood!! Maybe next time I should try with crabs, IF we can get them here ~

Proudly presenting my crispy black pepper prawns!

Basically this is what we have for a typical dinner...

Dinner that day was at Red Lobster!! My all-time favourite restaurant partly because I'm very drawn to their cheddar cheese rolls, which they always serve as appetizer...Very very good!
And of cuz I luv their grilled seafood, one of the best in Silver Spring..I think..
I wanted to bring my parents here when they are here, but their trip most likely will be cancelled because of the absurdly overblown swine flu media reports...angryzzzz.

My favourite fruit blended yogurt ice-cream at Tysons' Corner

My top favourite cheddar cheese roll (we always takeaway 4 for next day's breakfast, FOC wor! )
The very nice appetizer with melted cheese and lobster meat~
Cha's main course~ his grilled chicken is so nice leh! Too bad I cannot eat...

My main: although the food looks sparse, but it's actually very filling!
